Leave Glasgow on A82 to Dumbarton and Loch Lomond. Follow A82 to Crianlarich. Then take A82 to Tyndrum and A85 to Oban. Then head north on A828 to Ballachulish, then A82 north to Fort William. Return south by A82 through Glencoe, sight of the infamous massacre, to Tyndrum and Crianlarich and return to Glasgow. (about 236 miles) Take A82 west from Glasgow to Dumbarton and Loch Lomond. Follow road to Crianlarich and turn right on A85 to Lochearnhead. Follow A84 to Callander, Doune and Stirling. Return to Glasgow on M9/A80. (about 120 miles) Take A85 west from Perth to Crieff. Follow A85 to Lochearnhead and up Glen Ogle to Lix Toll. Then take A827 to Killin, passing Falls of Dochart and travel along north shore of Loch Tay to Kenmore. Follow A827 to Aberfeldy and Ballinluig. Take A9 south to Perth. (about 96 miles) Take A93 west from Aberdeen, passing Drum and Crathes Castles between Peterculter and Banchory, then carry on westwards to Crathie and Balmoral Castle. Then return east on A93 and take B9119 east to Tarland and then A980 north to Craigievar Castle and then to Alford. Take A944 east back to Aberdeen. (about 106 miles) See castle map. Take A90 north from Dundee to Brechin. Come off A90 just north of Brechin and take B966 to Edzell and follow road to Fettercairn. Take B974 over Cairn o'Mount to Deeside. On the descent, take left fork towards Aboyne and follow South Deeside road west to Aboyne. Cross River Dee at Aboyne and follow A93 west to Dinnet. Then turn right on A97 towards Strathdon. Follow A944 to Cockbridge and over Lecht summit to Tomintoul. Take A939, then A95 back to A9 and south to Perth and A90 back to Dundee. (about 229 miles) From Inverness take A9 northwards to the Black Isle. Take A835 to Ullapool. Then take A835/A837/A894/A838/A836 round the coast to Thurso. Then return south on A9 to Inverness. (about 313 miles) |
